Overview of the Contract
Southport Market received a £1.4m refurbishment in 2021. Led by Sefton Council, the refurbishment successfully transformed the market into a food, drink and events space as part of the local authority’s plans to help Southport recover from the pandemic.
AdaptiveComms were proud to be selected by Sefton Council for the contract to provide Wi-Fi services for the refurbishment project. Through our sister company Blue Cow Digital, we were also contracted to provide the venue’s website, utilizing visual assets designed by Vivid, a marketing agency in Manchester.
Planning and Preparation
Our IT Engineers studied the project brief and carried out extensive planning and surveying of the Southport Market site in the early stages of the refurb development. The Wi-Fi provision required optimal distribution throughout the interior of the market, with adequate channel separation to eliminate interference between the access points. The locations of the access points also needed to be appropriate to the interior structure and steelwork as defined by the architects.
Meanwhile our web designers and developers at Blue Cow Digital were liaising with representatives from Sefton Council as well as Vivid Marketing to work towards a plan for the website that would incorporate the visual marketing and graphics that had been developed for the market’s branding. The website was to be both a showcase for the market and also the individual traders who would be operating there.
The rolling out of the Wi-Fi systems was done efficiently and carefully and all our engineers were briefed to fit devices and cabling with minimal aesthetic impact so as to preserve the vision of the interior decor. Scissor lifts with safety harnesses were used to fit the high access points. All our engineers are trained for health and safety compliance and working at heights, and AdaptiveComms is a Chas accredited company. Once devices and cabling had been fitted, everything was put through a thorough test phase to ensure speed and coverage was optimal throughout the building.
Over at Blue Cow Digital, our web development team were working to construct the market’s new website with close contact with the client to ensure it was going in the agreed direction regarding branding and features. The finished website is fully responsive being equally at home on a desktop PC or smartphone browser, and features a video flythrough banner, individual stall pages, an events calendar, gallery and stylish social media feed integration.
